The FIFTH ANNUAL 1001 Laughs Dearborn Comedy Festival will take place on December 15-16, 2017 at the Arab American National Museum in Dearborn, Michigan!  The festival will feature 12 comedians in four shows, at 7pm and 9pm on each evening.

Performer Bios
Amer Zahr (Founder, Producer) is an Arab-American comedian, speaker, writer, and adjunct professor at University of Detroit Mercy School of Law. He has headlined packed houses at New York City's world-famous Carnegie Hall and the John F Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, DC. He is the founder of producer of the "1001 Laughs Ramallah Comedy Festival," a production in Palestine, as well as the annual "1001 Laughs Dearborn Comedy Festival" in Dearborn, Michigan, in partnership with the Arab American National Museum. He is also the filmmaker of "We're Not White," a comedic and informative approach to the Arab-American struggle to get a box on the United States Census Form. Amer is the author of the well-read blog "The Civil Arab," as well as his first book, "Being Palestinian Makes Me Smile.” Amer holds an MA in Middle East Studies and a JD (law degree), both from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. He writes and speaks widely on political and social affairs, and has appeared on CNN, Fox, MSNBC, and Al-Jazeera.
Bill Bushart has performed at the Odd Ball Comedy Festival and Gilda's Laughfest in Grand Rapids. The Metro Times Named him "Funniest Comic in Detroit" in 2010.
Melanie Hearn is a fast rising talent on the Metro Detroit comedy scene. As a native of The “D,” Melanie has always enjoyed entertaining people “just cause”. She  has been sweeping the scene as Winner of the “Jumpstart your Comedy Career Contest” at Joey’s Comedy Shop,  winner of The “Big Money Contest” at Laff Tracks Comedy Club and  Semi-Finalist in the LA Comedy Express Competition at Mark Ridleys Comedy Castle.
Mic Larry began doing stand up comedy in 2006 and has opened up for Paul Mooney, Mike Bonner, Tony Roberts, and Cedric the Entertainer and Mike Epps. His comedic endeavors has landed him gigs in Hockey Town Theater, The Comedy Castle, Ann Arbor Showcase, The Music Hall, The Millenium Center and Joey’s Comedy Club here in the Detroit metro area. He has also appeared at Gotham Comedy Club, and Narcotics’ Convention in New York, VP Town Comedy Corner in Atlanta, GA and Jokes & Notes in Chicago, IL.
Mike Easmeil, a Palestinian-American comedian living in Virginia Beach, is a favorite in comedy clubs all over. Performing in his 4th Dearborn Comedy Festival, Mike has also performed on some of America's most prestigious stages including Carnegie Hall in New York and The Kennedy Center in Wash D.C.
Mona Aburmishan is an Arab-American comic living in Chicago. She has performed in Palestine, as well as Carnegie Hall and the Kennedy Center.
Starting comedy in 2016, Reem Edan has performed at the Comedy Store, Hollywood Improv, Haha Cafe & “Laughter Trumps Hate,” covering her Muslim upbringing & the struggles of living not-so-halal in Los Angeles.
